Technology Day 2012

Costa Rica will again host a large number of players in the information and technology sector at Technology Day 2012, to be held April 24th and 25th at the Pedregal Conference Center (Centro de Eventos Pedregal) in Belen.  The conference will feature exhibitions by information technology manufacturing companies and service providers, as well as a number of conferences and talks related to the sector.  Tickets are priced at $120, which includes entrances for both days of the event, lunch and coffee breaks, as well as cocktail parties for networking.  Click on read more link below for details of the event. Festival Produces Silk Worm Parade

The International Festival of Arts here has produced much music and dance, from artists as far away as Israel and Budapest, but perhaps no spectacle as traffic stopping as 65 gigantic "silk worms" making their way down a San Jose street connection the old Atlantic Railroad station and Morazon Park.

The brainstorm of Colombian actress/teacher Angela Maria Chavarria, she was not giving away any clues to the meaning behind the enigmatic performance her young companions humping along 600 exhausting meters of street Sunday.

 

Bob Dylon Slates Appearance Here

For some time, the rumor has been Blowin' in the Wind here: that international music legend Bob Dylan would perform in Costa Rica.

Finally, Wednesday, the promotion company Evenpro made the visit official. Prices were not announced but tickets may be obtained through www.specialticket.net

5 Banks, 23 Auto Agencies Set for Expomovil

Five banks and 23 automotive agencies are sharpening their pencils and preparing their order books for the vehicle show Expomovil  scheduled to kick off next Thursday at the show grounds at Pedrigal in Belen.

As usual for this country, the accent will be on workaday vehicles, sedans or crossovers and huge 4X4s. But as Expomovil develops as a show, other vehicles are expected this year: motorcycles, quadricycles, ATVs, ski jets and even farm machinery.

2012 Medical Travel Summit

The 2012 Medical Travel Summit, sponsored by PROMED (The Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rican Medicine), will be held from April 23-25 at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in Guachipelín.

Charity Chili Contest Set for Feb. 12

Whether you're a red-hot chili fancier or have a surefire recipe, you won't want to miss the fifth Annual Atenas Charity Chili Contest in that Central Costa Rican town Feb. 12.

Last year, proceeds from entry of no fewer than 14 cooking teams and 600 hungry attendees pushed the proceeds donated to a home for orphaned, abused or abandoned children's home to 1,700,000 colones, according to organizers.

Office Gemini is planning to host a technology show Feb. 1 and 2 at the Real InterContinental Hotel and Club Tower in San Jose. Topics will include making best use of computers for your office and Cloud technology.

Feb. 1 agenda begins at 6:30 p.m., ends at 8:30 and will include a cocktail reception. Thursday, Feb. 2 will offer the Office Gemini TechEd Forum beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

ExpoCasa Slates Show Next Week

ExpoCasa 2012 will offer solutions to those pondering about buying a new home or simply redecorating the old one. (We warn you, however, that what you might see may make you dissatisfied with your current castle.)

The 10th edition of the show will be held Jan. 25-29 at Centro de Eventos Pedregal in San Antonio de Belen. The ExpoCasa of last year drew 30,000 visitors and this year 50 home builders will be on hand to show their wares.

Jaco Theater Presents New Play

Coming hard on the heels of the first success of their inaugural season, (A Christmas Carol last December) Teatro Jaco  is presenting its second production, 17 Border Crossings.

The play comes directly from Madrid at the start of its world tour and runs Jan. 19-29, Thursday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The play is to be presented at Jaco Theater in the Oceans Center Jaco on Ave. Pastor Diaz at Jaco Beach.
